A Special 'Mother's Day' Edition: Sister Souljah

Happy Bless 'Mother's Day' To Everyone!
by Miriam G. Aw

As far as I am concerned, everyday is Mother's Day!  There are millions of moms who look forward to spend time with their families during this time of year, and rightly so.  And, it is also a day for husbands, children, and grandchildren to pay homage to that special woman who've constantly worried about them, and feverishly ensured that her family is doing well throughout the year, every year.

But there is more to Mother's Day than taking mom out to dinner, to a movie, or gift her with an abundance of presents given by family members, and friends.  It is also a reminder for many people to remember their moms who've passed-on, and is no longer living among us, but their spirit continue to dwell in their hearts forever more.

However, I see Mother's Day also as a day for reflecting how we must continue to struggle with our young generation, most of whom who are in need for direction holding a moral compass that will direct them toward taking a positive path toward achieving success defined by their standards, and not anyone else's definition as to what success is in this world.

With that said, I chose a woman who happens to epitomize what I believe to be is "real truth" respectively, especially when dealing with Black and Hispanic women.  And that woman is Sister Souljah, a person whom I believe represents what a strong woman should be particularly during these uncertain times of economic woes.

Thus, I present to you a speech Sister Souljah presented in Year 1999 - a five-part video series that I believe will captivate you, and elevate you toward heights of understanding.

Happy Bless 'Mother's Day' to Sister Souljah, and to the millions of women who continue to be strong, loving, caring, and spiritually upright in the 21st Century.
