Cosby Show Actress Clarice Taylor Dies

Clarice Taylor, who played Bill Cosby's mother on The Cosby Show, died on Monday at age 93, her rep tells PEOPLE.

She succumbed to heart failure and was surrounded by family when she passed.

Taylor earned an Emmy nomination in 1986 for her recurring role as Dr. Cliff Huxtable's mother, Anna Huxtable, on the long-running sitcom.

Publisher Perspective:

I, for one, have always enjoyed Ms. Taylor's work, both on stage and film.  My condolence goes out to the Taylor family.  I remember when she performed on "Five on the Black Hand Side," and I will like to take the opportunity to share with you a couple of Ms. Taylor's work - most of whom will fondly remember her as being Cliff's mom, Mrs. Anna Huxtable, on The Cosby Show.

Ms. Clarice Taylor is a woman whom I believe many young aspiring females should look up to when venturing into becoming an actress, whether it's on stage, television, or screen.  Class and self-respect never goes out of style!  Ms. Taylor exemplified such demeanor in her personal life, and her acting life.  We will miss you, your work, and the graciousness you've shown everyone throughout your illustrious career.
