Apparently the Truth Can Set You Free: Business as Usual But Only for a Few Select!

In one of my posts dated November 13, 2010 entitled "The 21st Century Selfless Solution To Heal & Rebuild America's Economy Through Non-Traditional Entrepreneurial Businesses," I explained that U.S.A. is a multi-level marketing country, and most of what is practiced is based on entrepreneurial principles.  Yet, if you or I did the same, then it's labeled with negativity, and scrutiny.

Well, lo and behold, a POLITICIAN had FINALLY come forth, and PUT IT OUT THERE essentially validating what I'd wrote in my November 13th 2010 post that yes, the U.S. is a MLM country.  In this case, the article that I'm about to post here details similarities of the Social Security system, and the Ponzi scheme.

It's good to know that some truth has revealed itself from a person whom I do not hold allegiance to in any way, whatsoever, but whenever you hear common sense analogies, and truth, regardless of who said it, it should be brought to the forefront with a well deserved notability.

And kudoes to writer, Michael Tanner, for writing the article, and explaining in detail the similarities between social security and the Charles Ponzi scheme, which otherwise may have had little impact to the article's relevance.

Yes, It Is a Ponzi Scheme In fact, Social Security is a bit worse than that.

Texas governor Rick Perry is being criticized for calling Social Security a “Ponzi scheme.”  Even Mitt Romney is reportedly preparing to attack him for holding such a radical view. But if anything, Perry was being too kind.

The original Ponzi scheme was the brainchild of Charles Ponzi. Starting in 1916, the poor but enterprising Italian immigrant convinced people to allow him to invest their money. However, Ponzi never actually made any investments. He simply took the money he was given by later investors and gave it to his early investors, providing those early investors with a handsome profit. He then used these satisfied early investors as advertisements to get more investors. Unfortunately, in order to keep paying previous investors, Ponzi had to continue finding more and more new investors. Eventually, he couldn’t expand the number of new investors fast enough, and the scheme collapsed. Ponzi was convicted of fraud and sent to prison.

Social Security, on the other hand, forces people to invest in it through a mandatory payroll tax. A small portion of that money is used to buy special-issue Treasury bonds that the government will eventually have to repay, but the vast majority of the money you pay in Social Security taxes is not invested in anything. Instead, the money you pay into the system is used to pay benefits to those “early investors” who are retired today. When you retire, you will have to rely on the next generation of workers behind you to pay the taxes that will finance your benefits.

White House reacts to employment report: ‘Unemployment unacceptably high’

“Next Thursday, President Obama will outline a bipartisan plan to create jobs and generate growth that pulls the best ideas from both political parties. If Congress is serious about job creation, the package will pass,” Ms. Solis said. “The time for partisan bickering is over. The American people are fed up. Concerned citizens need to get engaged in this process, contact their leaders in Congress and hold them accountable.”

Magnitude 4.2 earthquake rumbles across Los Angeles region

A magnitude-4.2 earthquake rumbled across the Los Angeles region but there are no early reports of damage. The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit around 1:47 p.m. Thursday and was centered 24 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. It was initially estimated at 4.1.

D.C. Government Claims Nonprofit Used Grant Money to Open Strip Club

The D.C. government is suing a non-profit group to get back nearly $330,000 in grant money given for a job-training facility that was instead allegedly used to build a strip club.
The suit claims the director of "Miracle Hands" improperly billed the city for work that was never done. It also claims that Director Cornell Jones used the money to open the Stadium Club venue.

When I saw this, I laughed so hard!  There's a lot to said about 'Miracle Hands.'  I have sooooo many things to say about this story, but I think I'll keep it clean.  Tempting, but necessary!

Who Will Care for You? - Need for Nurses, Instructors Intensifies

Nurses are one of the most crucial caregivers, once a person enters into the health care system. They perform needs that range from helping a person get dressed to assisting physicians during surgery. Nurses are on the front lines of the health care industry.
As baby boomers age and as the need for health care escalates, so does the need for nurses.
“It could be catastrophic if we don't increase our pipeline and make sure we're meeting the needs of our health care system,” said Lydia Ostermeier, director of Indiana University Health Nurse Recruitment.

One Meal a Day

Eat one meal a day or one meal every other day, and it will prolong your life. Do not think that you will starve. On the contrary, you will be treating yourself to life, and a life filled with sickless days. You can hardly get sick eating this way. I know because I have this experience. If you eat the proper food—which I have given to you from Allah (in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad to Whom be praise forever) in this book—you will hardly ever have a headache.

Small Firms Try ‘Speed Dating’ Lenders

State officials in South Carolina played matchmaker this week in an effort to crack the tight credit market by pairing small-business owners with lenders.

A state-sponsored workshop on small-business financing strategies in Columbia, S.C., Wednesday included a “speed-dating” session where business owners held rapid-fire meetings with multiple lenders, organizers said.
The event was aimed at bringing important resources “right to small-business owners,” Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt said in a statement. He described small business as the backbone of the state’s economy.

The Right Food and the Proper Time to Eat It is Becoming a ‘Must'

If you can eat one meal every other day, you will enjoy both health and a longer life.

New body 'liquefaction' unit unveiled in Florida funeral home

The unit by Resomation Ltd is billed as a green alternative to cremation and works by dissolving the body in heated alkaline water.
The facility has been installed at the Anderson-McQueen funeral home in St Petersburg, and will be used for the first time in the coming weeks. It is hoped other units will follow in the US, Canada and Europe.
The makers claim the process produces a third less greenhouse gas than cremation, uses a seventh of the energy, and allows for the complete separation of dental amalgam for safe disposal.
Mercury from amalgam vaporised in crematoria is blamed for up to 16% of UK airborne mercury emissions, and many UK crematoria are currently fitting mercury filtration systems to meet reduced emission targets.

Freeze drying

Another "green" alternative to cremation is in the pipeline. Susanne Wiigh-Masak, a Swedish biologist, has for a decade proposed a technology she calls Promession.

The process involves a fully automated and patented machine. Coffins are fed in one end, and the body removed from the coffin within the unit and then treated with liquid nitrogen.
The body is then vibrated until the body fragments, after which the remains are dried and refined further, and then passed through filters to remove metals, including dental amalgam. The remains are then poured into a square biodegradable coffin, again automatically, for shallow burial.

Swedish biologist Susanne Wiigh-Masak explains how "promession" works, and how the idea evolved
For Ms Wiigh-Masak, it is all about preparing the body for this shallow burial, a process which says is akin to composting. It was in her garden on the island of Lyr on Sweden's west coast, that the idea came to her.
"It only takes two to three weeks before the kitchen and garden waste is soil so this is what inspired me to really see if not only the kitchen and garden waste but also everything organic, including us, could be treated this way to really become soil," she told BBC News.

So far, the technology has only been tested on pigs, with one pig even being fitted with a hip replacement prior to death, to test the efficacy with which the metal joint could be removed during the process.
Ms Wiigh-Masak is now confident commercial operations will begin soon, after the Swedish government promised to introduce new legislation that would allow individuals to use a "burial tax" paid by all Swedes not just for cremation and burial, but also for Promession.

Designs are complete, manufacturers appointed, and four potential sites in Sweden have been earmarked for facilities.

She says 60 countries around the world have expressed an interest in the technology, including councils in England such as Crewe and Nantwich Council and Cambridge City Council (who have also held discussions with Resomation Ltd).

Many individuals have already signed up for the process. The bodies of about a dozen people - including Ms Wiigh-Masak's late parents - are being held in cold storage because, prior to their deaths, they signalled their desire to undergo the process.

How long they may have to wait remains unclear.

Daum: New words to live by

Every year around this time, the Concise Oxford English Dictionary releases a list of words that will be added to its next edition. It's lucky that the announcement comes toward the end of August, when most humans want to go on vacation and most columnists, therefore, need to write an "evergreen."

Evergreen is journalist lingo for a topic that, like its namesake, is always in season (or, at least, one that won't go stale immediately). I suppose "frozen casseroles" could also work, but for whatever reason, that term never took off.

Words of wisdom from someone who predicted end of housing boom

Seven years ago, while South Florida developers were still staging high-flying condo parties and speculators lined up to put down deposits on new units, housing analyst Jack McCabe saw dangerous signs and began to warn that a downturn was imminent.
As one of the few voices that predicted a housing bust during the fast-money days of the housing boom, McCabe’s insights became more and more valuable when his predictions began to play out. His profile has grown as the housing market has plunged into recession and uncertainty, as analysts and reporters seek insight about where the market is headed next.

Home Foreclosures and Unemployment: So What Else Is New?

Foreclosures mount, mediation fails, wealthiest Black suburb suffers

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. - A widely touted strategy aimed at keeping Maryland residents from losing their homes by bringing banks and homeowners to the bargaining table has met with little success as the nation braces for another wave of foreclosures.

Maryland passed a law a year ago that gave homeowners in foreclosure the right to mediation, if they ask for it. The Justice Department reported in a November study that there were 25 mediation programs in 14 states.

As of May 31, just 56 homeowners in the state have gotten a modification of their loan through the mediation program. Borrowers complain that lenders are more interested in foreclosing than negotiating. One borrower was horrified to discover that the bank had sold her home during the mediation process.

Where's The Outcry Regarding 'Hormones' in Our Milk Supply?

Painkillers, Antibiotics, Hormones . . . In Our Milk? YES!

Did you know that the U.S. is the only industrialized country to allow hormones to be given to cows whom we get our milk supply?  To date, I've been informing people, including my daughter who has a young son, to refrain from drinking whole milk.  The sad part about this article and other articles that were published reporting the same disturbing news is that cheese, yogurt, and other dairy products may be also affected with these hormones.  In addition, there have been numerous published media reports from parents and medical personnel about an increase in hormonal growth in childrens' breasts, and other parts of their body, that are unexplainable, but the finger pointing is aimed at the hormones and other substances that are infiltrating our milk supply these youngsters are consuming.

Are we at the point today that it's best to own land to grow our own fruits, vegetables, cows, goats, etc., to ensure our health is not in jeopardy?  Frankly speaking, I believe we have reached that point decades ago!

Hormones in milk can be dangerous

One study compared diet and cancer rates in 42 counties. It showed that milk and cheese consumption are strongly correlated to the incidence of testicular cancer among men ages 20 to 39. Rates were highest in places like Switzerland and Denmark, where cheese is a national food, and lowest in Algeria and other countries where dairy is not so widely consumed.

Cancer rates linked to dairy can change quickly, said Ganmaa. In the past 50 years in Japan, she said, rising rates of dairy consumption are linked with rising death rates from prostate cancer - from near zero per 100,000 five decades ago to 7 per 100,000 today.

Butter, meat, eggs, milk, and cheese are implicated in higher rates of hormone-dependent cancers in general, she said. Breast cancer has been linked particularly to consumption of milk and cheese.
